★先日春を探しに芝公園に行ってまいりました★

東京では、最近は少しずつ春の気配が感じられるようになりましたが、強い寒気の影響でまだまだ寒い日が多いですよね。個人的には、寒かったり、少し暖かくなったりとまるで冬と春が同居しているような今が一年で最も好きな時期でもありまして、本格的な春が始まる前に、一足先に春を探しに「芝公園」の梅園へと出かけました。

最近はこのブログで、東京タワーの「ウインターイルミネーション」の話題や、増上寺の「節分追儺式」の話題をお届けしてまいりましたが、今回お邪魔いたしました「芝公園」もそこからすぐ近くにございます。

　

都営三田線の芝公園駅の出口を出ますと、公園内に咲いている梅をすぐ発見いたしました。梅園へと入ってゆきますと、東京タワーが間近に見え、梅と東京タワーのコントラストが素晴らしいです!! 公園内には約70本の梅の木が植えられているそうです。

梅園には、「白銀の花・梅屋敷銀世界」という案内板を発見しました。江戸時代、西新宿三丁目（新宿区角筈）に「銀世界」と呼ばれた梅屋敷があったのですが、東京ガス株式会社の所有になったため、多くの梅樹は明治41年から42年に芝公園に移植されたそうです。

案内板には、歌川広重の「絵本江戸土産」、現在新宿パークタワー近くにその名を留めている「銀世界稲荷神社」そして、梅屋敷内にあった「銀世界」の石碑などが掲載されていました。

「絵本江戸土産」にも描かれている石碑は、芝公園の梅園を入って行った中央部に置かれていました。

　

梅屋敷に咲いていた白梅の様子が銀世界のようだったので、その名前がつけられ当時庶民に大変親しまれていたそうです。

　

芝公園では毎年この時期に「梅まつり」も開催され、野点や琴の演奏などが行われます。お茶を楽しみながら、素晴らしい紅梅や白梅や堪能できますので是非参加してみては如何ですか？

東急ステイ目黒祐天寺から芝公園駅までのアクセス方法：

東急東横線「祐天寺駅」→「中目黒駅」（約2分）

東京メトロ日比谷線「中目黒駅」→「日比谷駅」（約15分）

都営三田線「日比谷駅」→「芝公園駅」（約6分）

「芝公園駅」A4出口を出るとすぐに公園内の梅園が観えてまいります。

"Ume Garden at Shiba Koen"

It is still cold in Tokyo. However, I personally like this time of year because I can feel both winter and spring seasons. I went to Shiba Koen (park) to the ume (plum) garden to feel spring in advance.

I could find the ume garden very easily when I got out of the Shiba Koen Subway Station. There are about 70 plum trees at the park and they were almost in full bloom when I visited. I really enjoyed seeing lots of beautiful flowers. I was also impressed to see the contrast between the flowers and Tokyo Tower.

When I entered the park, I found an information board which was titled "Silver flowers: The mansion of plums and world of silver". There was an umeyashiki (house) called "Gin Sekai" in Nishi Shinjuku 3 chome in the Edo era. However, since that area became the property of the Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd., lots of ume trees were carried to Shiba Koen and transplanted in the Meiji era.

Currently, the place that used to be the umeyashiki has Gin Sekai Inari Shrine near Shinjuku Park Tower. A stone monument of the Gin Sekai which was drawn in Hiroshige Utagawa's Ukiyoe named "Ehon Edo Miyage" is placed in middle of the park. The copy of the Ukiyoe and those pictures of the Gin Sekai Inari Shrine and the stone monument of the Gin Sekai were posted on the information board.

Since the appearance of those white colored plum flowers were like the world of silver, that name was given and many people were familiar with it at that time.

This festival is held in the park during this time every year. So, why don't you go to Shiba Koen to enjoy the beautiful flowers?

Access to Shiba Koen Station from Yutenji Station by subway:

Yutenji Station→Nakameguro Station (approximately 2 minutes by Tokyu Toyoko Line)

Nakameguro Station→Hibiya Station (approximately 15 minutes by Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line)

Hibiya Station→Shiba Koen Station (approximately 6 minutes by Toei Mita Line)

Get out of Exit A4 at the Shiba Koen Subway Station. You will find the ume garden in Shiba Koen very easily as this is the closest exit to the ume garden.
